I have an upcoming trip to Cozumel for a week and am taking my Kodak Zi8 w/ an Ikelite housing. The housing came with a red filter.

Here's my question. This will be the first time using this camera in the ocean and I don't know if there is a certain depth I need to hit before I slip on the red filter, or do I just need to slip it on before I hit the water?

Thanks everyone.

If you are not using lights then the red filter should probably be on the whole time. I have seen 5 feet listed in places, but that's probably for snorkeling.

I use mine below about 15'. Above that it tends to add a yellowish cast.

Also be sure there's no bubbles on the port or the filter or you may get some odd distortions.
