Is there a different record for the depth on CCR to the record on OC? If so, what are they?

Why, you interested in trying to break it?

Nope. Just interested

Diving is an experience, and not a spectator or competitive sport. Records are for spectators and competitive sports and are therefore unimportant.

Translation, some diver a few months ago set a new world record for deepest dive. But who really cares? Not me. Don’t remember his name, or the number. I am not impressed. Does not help mankind or cure illness or feed the starving or make the world a better place to live. Doesn’t matter anyway, he killed himself a few weeks later trying to best his record.

To this I say Darwin award winner. IMHO.

Melvin. thank you very much.

When I started diving in 62 records were being broke all the time. I hated it then and I hate it now. Diving is no place for records especally depth records.

A while back I posted something about skydiving records. Everyone jumps from the same height but see's who can get closest to the ground. Eventually everyone is going to slam the ground trying to get deeper.

Records for both sports are IMHO BS.

We have two divers in Lake Pend Oreille trying to set records. The lake is 1485' deep and we have one around 600 and the other is closer to 1K. All they are working on now is bottom time.

Both of these idiots were in rental gear and trying to beat some local records. The shop would like their gear back and it's job security for me.

At least two of us here don't like records and I like the way you put it.

Sorry I seem to have struck a chord with this one.

I can dig free diving records, because that takes some endurance, and metal preporation. like anything else those guys, and girls really push the limits of the human body. But scuba records... naaa not for me. like you guys said no point in it. I think you loses the element of fun when it gets competitive.

I was wondering because I heard somewhere that CCR's go deeper on higher O2 content than OC's so I was wondering if this was reflected in records.

No cord struck and no problems. I just don't like diving and records on the same subject line. ;)

They are there and they will always be there. And there will always be those idiots that try and beat them.

Job security, sort of. We show up and confirm they are mega deep and go home. Not much else to do unless we can pinpoint their location.

Gary,

Would you ever consider a body retrieval that deep? Does your dept. have a policy on that? I'm referring to those two you've got down deep in that lake.

I only ask because you seem to be one who goes above and beyond with some frequency, and I wonder where you draw the line.
