Hi,

I need to buy a backplate, wings and harness for a set of doubles. Does anyone have any recommendations on manufacturer and model and configuration? Thanks.

IMHO, I don't think you can go wrong with the search function.

Check out Deep Sea Supply. I've got a singles rig from them that I really like and am gearing up to get a doubles rig from them. You can access their website from the manufacturers forum here on Scuba Board.

ditto---will find thousands of recommendations, but none by me, I don't do doubles....

Riley,
My impression is the brand doesnt matter, the trick is to find out the size of the wing based on your double and your exposure.
Check : http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/deep-sea-supply/202830-wing-size-vs-exposure-suit.html
And there is another post on divematrix where Tobin provide lots of good details.
Unfortunately, the ultimate lift calculator provided here: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/bu...ems/158370-ultimate-wing-lift-calculator.html
doesnt work too well for double (little too conservative I think, while i'm impressed how it is precise for single).

It seems people may managed to get 2xAL80 with 38lbs lift, but if you have HP100 and drysuit, different calculation gives between 45 and 65... better do some real life checking first.

I have a homemade backplate and harness. But I recommend Dive Gear Express | Equipment for Experienced Divers for the backplate and harness.

For the wing, I love my Oxycheq wings. I have their Mach V Extreme Series for single tanks diving and their Vertex *Signature* Series for doubles.

As Oscar Wilde once said, "I have very simple tastes; I am always satisfied with the best."

You can read my "mini-review" of the Evolve at the bottom of this page:
Halcyon Evolve System at www.DiveSeekers.com w/BONUS: Free MC Storage Pak

Give Wayne or Jason at www.DiveSeekers.com a call at 888-728-2247 and ask them what they might be able to do to hook you up with a rig that's right for you. They sell Dive Rite as well. Tell them you're from ScubaBoard and that I sent you - they'll treat you right!

There are lots of good manufactures of backplate and wings.

If I was to buy a new setup today it would be either a DeepSeaSupply or Oxycheq wing. Both great imo. Lots of other choices too......Exact models depend on if your looking for a doubles or singles wing. Love my Mach V and Vertex wings.

Backplate I am less concerned about. Though some are better for singles or doubles depending on the depth of the V channel. DSS and Hammerhead Scuba would probably be my choices.

For a harness I prefer a simple hogarthian setup. But a lot of this is just personal preference.
