hey guys,

I'm looking for a place to go this winter for the wife and kids.

We've got 4 divers and 2 non-divers.

The non-divers are ages 6 and 8.

I'm looking for a resort that offers good interesting boat dives that are relatively easy carefree events good for OW certified junior divers with enough variety of marine life to keep mom and dad happy.

Meanwhile, the two littlest of the clan are kept buy and happy in a quality, safe, clean childrens program that involves plenty of cool kid stuff -- maybe even snorkling and the like.

For time on shore, I'd like to have unlimmited shore diving within easy access of the resort through mild to no surf, again, so the kids can do it.

And I'd like it all to be really reasonably priced!

So, who has recommendations for me?

We spent a week at Sunset Waters resort (www.sunsetwaters.com) on Curacao in late July and absolutely fell in love with it. A man-made lagoon with paddleboats and kayaks will keep your young 'uns occupied. Swim out through the lagoon and you're in for seahorses, octopus, eels and a host of other marine life starting in just 20 fsw. Boat dives with the on-site dive op, Sunset Divers (www.sunsetdiver.com), is best described as "valet diving." Sites are very easy and the boat crews are excellent.
The resort is all-inclusive; the food and drinks were wonderful. We met others who hired babysitters on a per diem basis and were very pleased with how their children were treated. I cannot wait to get back!

No matter where you go, safe travels and enjoy your trip!

Wow! You aren't asking for much, are you?? tehehehe;)
I am guessing you are looking for Caribbean? You don't say where you are at. Have you looked at any of the Kids Sea Camp Programs? They have a website: http://www.kidsseacamp.com/

I think if I had 2 young divers and 2 non-diving kids I would want to go someplace with lots of family activities like that. I don't know if its in your pricerange but Anthony's Key in Roatan has everything you are looking for. A friend took her family there last year for the Kids Sea Camp and the kids cried on the plane all the way home. They have a dolphin program which the 6-yr old participated in and then the 12 yr old went diving with kids her own age while the parents went on the adult boat. They all loved it so much they signed up for another one this year.

When we were in Bonaire in June they had the program there and those kids were very busy all week with all kinds of activities - plus they had their own boat for water activities. It looked perfect for families with kids.

I'd second the Sunset Waters suggestion. There were quite a few kids around when we were there, and on the weekends there were some local families with kids. Mom will probably want to keep Dad away from the topless section of the beach.
