Hi!

Just wondering if anyone has dove at Humber Bay in Toronto recently. What were the conditions like temperature and viz etc. Have been there any water quality advisories recently?

Thanks

Alx

The Humber changes by the hour :D

Think it's been a coupla weeks since I've been in - Shame on me!
The conditions change at the whim of the lake. Random upwellings bring fresh cool water up to create 40 degree temps, but then the next day it's in the fifties. The afternoon could be crystal clear - then by evening it's milky and cloudy.

Just go dive and have fun! Enjoy the Surprise! :D

We were there last night and viz was about 2' max. It was warm though. 61°F.
Last Thursday viz as about 15-20' and temp was 44°F So Chris is right...enjoy the surprise! :)

"Dove" it last night... not at the traditional spot, but drove a little further and went in past the next point, near the end of the road. First time I've dove this spot at Humber, usually dive the culverts/lines, but wanted to see what was there.

Worst vis ever. In most places, it was about 12 inches. First attempt to descend seperated us. We resurfaced and held on to each other to descend again. It opened up to about 5 foot vis near the bottom for a while, and we swam out on a compass heading. Then vis went back down to 1 foot again. We called the dive, turned 180 and came back in and we were swimming with outstreched arms because we couldn't tell if we were about to swim into something or not. We were basically diving on instruments... compass and depth guage. Not recommended; no fun.

Only got down to about 30 ft there, temp wasn't bad, probably in the 60's. We didn't hit a very noticible thermocline so that's probably why the vis was so bad (there was a slight one). The regular Humber spot might not be as bad, but I would be prepared for the worst.
