Hi,

Anyone know of any rebreather-friendly liveabords that do the Brothers and other southerly off shore reefs?

Here's the problematic bit - I need an Op that can rent me an Evolution as that's the unit I'm certified on (but I don't own one yet).

Thanks,
John

Rebreather friendly, yet. Rent you an Evo? I can ask some friends yet I'm not sure.

Are you on your own or you want to charter the entire boat? What type of diving are you looking for (depth, mixes, etc...)? What pressures are you up to (will the boat need to have a booster)?

The boat, no problem at all. But as far as I know the operators that would rent you a RB are not doing liveaboard and they would never rent an RB to other operators' guests... I think your best option is to rent your unit at home and then pick the best liveaboard operator...

.......a.......

I have an idea, how about to search in the diving centers that are already owning liveaboards, like (Red Sea College, Sinai Divers, ...etc)

Thanks for all the responses. We need 2xAPD Evolutions (not rEvos), one for me and friend.

Type of diving: <40m, just needing to get hours on the unit. Outside of the hours, main interest is sharks, hence hoping for the Brothers.

Samaka, you think renting the units on a liveabord would be a no-no. If we could rent the units here and bring them with us, do you know of any technical liveabords that can do o2 fills and provide sofnolime? I'm sure I've heard of some but a quick peruse on google didn't yield anything obvious apart from Tekstreme/Emperor. Red Sea College are rebreather friendly but their liveabord seems to be a northern rather than southern one and I'm keen to get the Brothers into the itinerary (not a demanding customer at all!!! :) )

Thanks again,

John

Now this is a bit tricky... I have to tread very carefully... Since I work for one company in the liveaboard industry in the Red Sea I can only say that we have 4 boats that could all do it. Booster pump on all and full trimix blending panel on one.

Any itinerary in the Egyptian Red Sea from north to south.

.......anders.......

Evolution is frequently called Evo. The rEvo is something else.

I'd have stuck with Samaka if I were in your shoes. You can't go wrong with him.

Aha! Wasn't aware of that - am new to the world without bubbles :)

I will try and stick with Samaka if there's any viable way. It's the rent and transportation of the units that is the head scratcher at the moment as I suspect my buddies will favour going to a land based op where we can rent them there. But I really want to go back to the Brothers. Really really want to go back :-)

Cheers,
J
