Ikelite makes two separate housings for the two cameras.

Does anybody know if the the Rebel T2i will fit in the same housing as the T1i?

With a large enough hammer, yes. :D

From DPReview "The positions of the buttons on the rear of the EOS 550D haven't changed much since the EOS 500D, but their shape and profile has (making them a little easier to use), and there's a new dedicated movie/live view button on the right of the viewfinder."

I'm not sure if it physically fits, but it sounds like buttons may have moved slightly. It seems like all the UW housing companies that are producing a T2i housing are releasing a new model for it. This leads me to suspect that the T2i won't work in a T1i housing. "It's a conspiracy!" :shocked2:

BTW, The T2i/550d and Nauticam housing look to have solved all the issues I had with potential T1i housings. It's tempting....

Just like a guy to use a hammer to solve the problem... Just kidding. I have the t1i in the sea & sea housing and it works great. What don't you like about the housing? I just want a backup body, and thought if the t2i fit it might be worth it. Sounds like it is not a possibility. Oh well. Might be able to get a deal on a t1i shortly...

No, from what Sea & sea said, the T2i will fit in their newer camera housing and the T1i and Xsi would also fit in. But putting the T2i in the housing that fits the T1i wouldn't work.

What don't you like about the housing?

It was a combination of limitations of the T1i and the housings that support it. If I'm going to spend $8K+ for a DSLR system, I would prefer one with fairly good video capability and I felt that the T1is video capability was rather limited. There were several minor issues I had with the RDX housing: 1) For some reason it felt bulkier and the controls seemed not as well thought out as other housings I tried out 2) The RDX requires you to remove the tray/arms to remove the back and get access to the camera body 3) The RDX requires an MDX conversion ring to mount the Athena S&S macro ports. All very minor issues, but collectively (along with travel hassles) I decided last year to stick with the G10 P/S for my UW system. I've just recently started looking at the T2i (solves the video issue) and the Nauticam housing (looks very interesting with its dedicated macro ports that accept 67mm threaded adapters and 100mm glass dome port). I'm still not sure if I'll make the jump to DSLR UW land because I still have the travel hassle issue of transporting a much larger DSLR rig (We currently get both my wife's and my UW systems with 4 strobes in a single carry-on bag).

Haven't tried using the video yet. I can open the back without unscrewing everything, but it is tight. I went up to Reef Photo and played with several housings before choosing the Sea and Sea and it worked best for me. I have smaller hands and find the controls easy to work. The T2i looks really good and I was hoping it would fit my housing so I could buy the body and use my t1i as a land camera on trips. I don't like pulling the camera in and out of the housing. With the t2i out, perhaps I can pick up a second t1i cheap - or buy the t2i for land use.

I didn't move to DSLR for a long time because I liked the freedom of changing lenses underwater with my olympus c5050 and still love the camera. The lenses on my newish toy make the change worthwhile. Also the lack of shutter lag. Packing is significantly more complicated now! Two checked bags, a carry-on bag and a "personal" item, just to bring camera stuff, dive gear and small amount of clothes!
