Guys,

Can you tell me how much smaller is the Oxycheq Mach V #18 wing compared to the #30 wing?

I love my Mach V #30 wing  but I feel that it uses too much space in my luggage. I usually fly with a small duffel bag and I used to be able to fit a lot more junk when I had my Seaquest Balance.

What other travel Wing would you recommend?

The 18# is significantly smaller. It is pleated on the sides and folds absolutely flat. The 30# is still round in section and takes up more volume. I just rigged my 18# with one of their ultra light plates. It's incredibly light and takes up very little space. It's also fairly inexpensive. I think $235 for the wing and another $55 for the soft plate. If you get them at Scubatoys or one of the other SB friendly shops you can get it for even less due to discount.

BTW I  my 30# Mach V also. :)

Ok. I think I will be switching to #18 Wings. Now the choices are:

Oxycheq Mach V Razor #18
Oxycheq Mach V Signature #18
DSS Touro #18 Wing

Between the Oxecheq Wings. How much smaller would the Signature and Razor be? On the oxycheq website it's says the Signature #18 is the lowest profile travel wing available. (And Not the Razor huh??)

Mine is the Razor. I can't imagine a smaller package than that. It is literally about 1/2" thick when completely deflated except at the hose elbow and pull dump. I've never seen the other two in person.

The web site may be talking about the profile as you move through the water rather than the packing size. That would make for a little less drag but the Razor has very little to start with. It feels like you're just wearing a harness.

Hi Biker, I have the Mach V Razor 30lb, and having compared it to a Mach V Signature 18lb in a shop, I think I can pack my Razor smaller than the Signature, even though mine has a higher lift capacity. I imagine the Razor 18lb would pack extremely small (as would DSS' travel wing).

I think, if you want the smallest/lightest travel rig you can't go wrong with an Aluminum/Kydex/Ultralite plate and 18lb travel wing from either Oxycheq or DSS. The advantage of the lack of internal bladder is that it will pack smaller and dry quicker, though it is slightly less robust. I think the bit about Signature being the lowest profile wing is before they added the Razor 18lb, actually the Razor 18lb still isn't on the website.

Thanks guys. I will be buying the Oxycheq Razor #18 before my next dive trip. Now..what should I do with my Razor Signature #30?? i really love this wing..but dont think I will use it again if I get the razor.

Although I do 90% of my diving in tropical situations where 18lb would be sufficient, I got the Razor 30lb in case I started w/ colder climate diving or moved outside of SE Asia. To me it was the best of both worlds, lightweight travel and enough lift for colder climate diving.

What to do w/ your Signature 30lb... only you can decide that one!

I think the original poster is trying to split hairs a bit. If you're looking for an excuse to buy another wing (we've all been there) you can find a few, but the size difference isn't a high motivator. You might save enough room for two or three pairs of socks making the switch...

I have the older #18 razor. I use it for pool only and it's really sleek...I've not seen the new 18...

I would ditch that sorry piece of junk. Mail it to me in Texas and I'll dispose of it properly. I'll even split the shipping with you. :eyebrow:
