Got my PADI online done over 2 months ago. Cold her so no one is diving. Local PADI shop has not been real helpful. Going to Playa del Carmen on Thursday. Hopefully I can get my open water in there. I have all my equipment except for tank. Cant decide weather to fly with it or just use theirs. Mine is not set up yet. :cool2:
 
Welcome to SCUBA. I have never dove Playa del Carmen, but it is right near Cozumel which is a very popular destination. I dove Cozumel in 2008 and would like to go back there. Look around and find a good shop to do your open water and your confined water (pool sessions before you go into the ocean since you don't mention doing pool work). Review your online course work too. Learning to pass the SCUBA test is not like other test you take. You are not learnig the material just to pass the test, you are learning the lessons for life (so you can keep on living).
 
Well I am now certified open water. Got my myself and my equipment checked out. Dove in Playa del Carmen and then dove the cenotes west of Plays. Nice 3 day trip.
