Of course I have a mix and match for cameras. I use a canon G9 for underwater and Nikon D90 for land photo's. I have a number of programs for RAW and edit - Aperture 2 and NX2 (nikon only). NX2 is much better for Nikon than Aperture 2. Does Canon offer a RAW converter and basic edit application for RAW photo's similar to NX2?

Thanks

Yeah, Canon has it's own RAW photo editor, usually it comes with the camera.

I've never tried the Nikon program for RAW, but it might be similar.

You can download it here: Canon Europe - Digital Photo Professional

I'm not sure if it is what you are looking for but I hope it helps!

Thanks for the link.

The supported producst do not show the P&S with RAW. Does the product support all canon RAW or only RAW from the DSLR's?

Thanks

Canon Photo Professional comes with the G10 and dows RAW conversions of G10 files. I assume it does raw conversion for the G9 as well. I prefer using the Adobe RAW converter that works in Photoshop and PS Elements. The 'Highlight Recovery' slider bar rules!

As a G9 owner, I will second the opinion to get PS Elements. It's RAW management tool makes life a lot easier by its integration with the organizer and editor and it functionality.
It handles the G9 RAW files (CR2) fine. The Canon SW will of course handle the CR2 files from the G9 as well.

Exactly why is Aperture2 not good with Nikon?

I think NX Capture by Nikon should be able to handle most RAW files whether they come from Nikon cameras or not. I prefer the NX Capture to Adobe Camera Raw.

@ejg62:

Uh. Both the Nikon D90 and the Canon G9 are supported by Aperture 2 for direct RAW import. Here's a link to the Aperture 2 info webpage.

Why is a separate RAW converter required? Seems like adding unnecessary steps to your workflow to me.

Lightroom is really good also

DPP does not work with the files from the G9, only G10/G11 and the DSLRs.

I use lightroom for everything at the moment, but DPP does have one nice feature for DSLR raw files: automatic correction for lens aberrations.

Edit: Zoombrowser from Canon will deal with G9 RAW files, but it is a far cry from DPP, Lightroom, or Aperture.
