On October 14th I had a chance to dive with Raul Platas who runs bottom time divers in Cozumel. Like many of you I worried about the well being of our Cozumel dive operators when Wilma battered the Island. Having been inconvenienced by 10 powerless days when Wilma visited S. Florida, I finally got an email to Raul and a response. He and his family are safe and any damages sustained are repairable. His boat survived and he is now back in business. I promised to post a report on the board as I know some of our members have used Raul.

A big thanks to Christi for keeping us informed and for her efforts to get relief to the dive community on the island. I hope to go back soon.

Thanks Bob, It's good to hear Raul and family are ok and he's ready to go, he's a great guy.
 
I was to be there this week but AA canceled my flight. Raul is a very people pleaser and has a great personallity as well as great divemaster. I was able to talk to him also and after changing my flight to Dec 14 he talked to Terri at Cocos resturant and they got me a room at the El Marques for that week. The hotel did not get any major damage and was up and running when they got electricity. I also got an e-mail from Michaela at Liquid Blue who is a good friend of Raul and she was able to inform me about Raul and his family 2 days after the storm. All the good people of Cozumel seemed to pull together and help each other. I have been able to dive with Raul at Bottomtimedivers.net, Michaela and Roberto at Liquidbluedivers.com, and Christi at Bluextseadivers.com over the years and have found that these people are the best at providing a great dive expereance as well as being there as just a friend.

ALL WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN TO COZUMEL SHOULD BOOK WITH THESE OUTSTANDING PEOPLE. YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY.

I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Raul, but I totally agree with your opinion about Michaela, Roberto, and Christi. All of them are first class people.
