Hi folks,
Am trying to get my wife to do some snorkeling, and need some input.

(My wife would KILL me if she knew I was asking about this.....)

Wife was obese for many many years. She recently lost over 100 pounds. However, she still has big arms and heavy legs that embarrass her to no end. She would never-ever put on a bathing suit. To that end, I'm trying to find suggestions for her so she can feel more comfortable. Was thinking a water shirt or Jacket and similar pants. Looking for better ideas, or direct suggestions on gear.

Just wondering if anyone else is in this boat, and what they did about it? Yeah, I know. To heck with what other people think. But she does care, and I can't change that.

We're in our 50's and the activity I'm talking about is an excursion from a cruise ship ie; just floating around looking at fish. Nothing that would require the top of the line stuff.

Thanks in advance.

Big Steve, props to you for asking and congrats to your wifey for dropping some weight. Most scuba shops carry rash guards, but they can sometimes be really tight and possibly uncomfortable. Maybe she could consider a Lycra dive skin/bodysuit like the lady in the picture below is wearing. Very stretchy and comfortable.

It would have several advantages...first, it would help cover up the parts she's embarassed about, second it provides sun protection and third it provides a little protection from the critters that sting. If not a rashguard, maybe a really thin, tropical wetsuit...1.5mm or 1mm.

Either way, I'm with you...screw what everyone else thinks. Life is short, get out there and have some fun and make some friends.
