my excitement is building as we leave in a week for the tahiti aggressor from fakarava to rangiroa. we have extended 3 nights at the kia ora to relax at the end of the trip. i assume we will be diving both passes a number of times each day. Is there anything else to do on rangiora but dive? the population is 1k people so i can't imagine much is happening anywhere. for those that have been, any suggestions? are there even any restaurants anywhere save for the hotel? no biggie if not, but thought i'd ask, thx in advance.

Hi: We bought black pearls at a little shop down the main road about 5 minutes past the Kia Ora. It was the best price we found anywhere in Tahiti......much cheaper. We also had pizza at a great little place just past the pearl shop......very economical. Also right at the main pass into the lagoon is a small French restaurant in a home....you have to reserve ahead of time....if you go early you can usually see Dolphins in the pass at sunset. You will love it!

As noted - a few small restaurants but not much else to do. You can make arrangements to go diving on the other side of the atoll - past the Blue Lagoon. Walls - better corals.
