Rangiroa.. experience with Novotel? Hammerheads time?

I am considering a dive trip to Rangiroa and am wondering if anyone has experience with them to share? Kia seems rather expensive which is often the norm. for french poly.

What is the best time of yr to see hammerheads there or dive there? I am told the hammers are seasonal but am looking for more info on that.

Jan / Feb is the best time of year for the hammerheads.

You can stay at a "pension" (basically a bed and breakfast) for a lot cheaper than the Kia Ora. Go to the library and get a copy of the lonely planet for more info on the pensions ...

Kia is indeed expensive and a pension would be fine for me. But the wife will not be diving and will prefer some degree of amenities that a B and B will not likely have present.
Anyone stay at the Novotel at Rangiroa?
