I received my Ranger LTD today. Like a kid on Christmas, I tore open the box and started playing with it. One of the first things I did was test the ripcord weight release. It worked as deisgned as the weight pouches fell right out.

Then it dawned on me that I really didn't know how to re-assemble it. I looked up the directions and fed the ripcord through all the proper loops and everything.

My question is what do you do with the end of the cord after feeding it through all the loops? Does it just turn up and sits there loose? Is there something else that it tucks into?

The end is just "loose". The cord is stiff enough that it doesn't go anywhere. I resisted the urge to pull mine, but have closely inspected how it's put together.

I think that if you look closely into the bottom of the pocket you will find a dead end slot where the end of the cord can be tucked away.

Hmm... I had to go examine my Ranger after reading this. I did find that there is a small band of fabric like the others that the ripcord is routed through in each pocket. Now the end of the right-side ripcord doesn't poke out! (The left one never poked out, but now it's stowed a tiny bit better.

Thanks, rescuediver009!

Sounds like I have it re-assembled correctly. The thing that threw me for a loop was the red ripcord had some black on the tip, as if it was inserted into something and the black "rubbed off" when I pulled the rip cord.

Thanks for the info. Now I just need to get wet in the new Ranger.
