Why do you like the harness better on the Ranger?

I'm also looking at an Aqualung Malibu--you don't carry those but any thoughts?

Robin

The ranger straps are a little wider, distributing the weight better for me, and have multiple stainless steel D rings, one of which can be moved where you want it. Then the waist panel is heavier material and does have the grommets if you want to bolt up doubles... That is why I like the ranger harness more than the Escape.

Sorry... Don't do Aqualung - so I really can't comment on that. The great thing about Zeagles, is the ability to change out any component - that's why they have a lifetime warranty - they don't have to replace the BC - just which ever part failed. I've no idea how the Aqualung is constructed or what their warranty is.

Sorry to worry you to death about this <my beloved husband is rolling his eyes even as I type--I should be doing some homework on my degree and not on my BC right now!> I see on the Zeagle site that the Zena weighs about 4# (from a user's endorsement) but no word on a Ranger or Escape. How much approx does the Ranger v Escape v Brigade weigh? We dive a lot of what we call MIPs (mosquito infested paradises) where we have to use local charter planes which severely limit luggage weight so that's a consideration.

Give me a size, and I'll toss one on the scale and let you know... but just guessing (I'm at home right now, not at the shop) I'd say more in the 6-7 pound range if a small Brigade, Ranger probably 2 lbs higher.... Or just give me a call on our toll free number during the day, and we'll check while you're on the phone.

Sure Larry, hijack my thread to sell someone a BC...just joking. I really wish that my LDS was that helpful.

Small--I called but you had already left.

However, don't bother weighing them just yet. My Suunto Eon just developed severe emotional problems which the LDS says, so sorry, Suunto says it's too old to mess with...uh, did you buy it here? <snarl: no, you dimwit, like many of your customers I'm military and move around a lot!)

So the old Zeagle will stay around a while longer and my "other" LDS--3 hours away, is checking to see what they can find out aboutt he Eon.

Thanks anyhow.

I was looking at a Ranger and at Larry's suggestion bought the Brigade. 1st time with it dropped 6 lbs of weight (pair of 3lbs in the trim pockets). Will add 4 lbs back just to see what is going to happen (4 in the trims and 6 in the pockets). Bought the weight pouches (cheap) just so I can satisify the ones that want me to dump weight (unzip the weight pockets and pull the pouches out, hand them up).

My lady just bought the Zena (medium front on a small harness, she has some padding to deal with and the small front didn't make her comfortable). She has been trying several different womens BC's and liked the ladyhawk a bunch (chest fit) but walked away after trying on the Zena (she liked the front and the comfort). Her main worry was the zipper on the Zena front but with the warranty being lifetime it took away all her worries.

and yes..... Larry does look tired in real life (met him last weekend) but when you get a chance to visit his shop you will understand, non-stop action and the nicest and most helpful people I have ever met in the retail industry (across the board). Thanks again for your help.
