Raja Empat best done on Liveaboards, the area is very large, and if you want to see a lot of different habits this is the only way to do it comfortably.

As for liveaboards this area is seasonal best in April, May, or September through to December, some of the better boats which operate here in these times are PINDITO, KARU, ONDINA, ADVENTURE KOMODO

At the moment only 1 land based resort (DIVE PAPUA) I know of operating there (on KRI Island) but there is talk of a 2nd opening up soon

The TemuKira of Grand Komodo also does Raja Ampat as far as I know.

Never been with them but heard they have a very good crew, however, the boat's not as luxurious as the before mentioned.

All the livaboards I found were full, dates didn't work and/or they had at least 10 days cruise, while I can stop there only 7 days. At the end I found the Kri Eco Resort, they had place, so I've booked there. Apparently Kri island is one of the most interesting dive spots of Raja Ampat!

Oct. 20 - Oct. 31 (some cancellations, please contact us for details)
Nov. 3 - Nov. 14 (2 spaces left)
11 nights, 12 days on the ship

I'd stay away from Kri Resort unless you want really, really basic - like sleeping on the floor.
