Thanks all for your advise, i have decide to take the plunge and go for it. Going to fly home through Dubai and see whats "up" there for a few days. I appreciate all of your good ideas. I will arrive early, just in case.

WD--Well of course, come home via Dubai. (Me, I would go home via Lembeh!) Sounds like you are up for adventure though, so I suspect you'll love RA. Everyone posts about the diving and it is great but the thing is, where you'll be sailing and what you see topside along the way is also a big part of the draw.

Depending on your schedule for arrival in Sorong you may or may not need a hotel. Sorong not being a hot spot for hotel choices an easy solution is to stay at Hotel Meridien, right across from the airport. Hotel JE Meridien Sorong Other than that, have fun...but of course you will. // ww

Thank you WW. I do like an adventure. I will take your excellent advise.

If you happen to have a dive buddy, I just got a BOGO deal on the Euphoria 14-25 May 2015 to Raja Ampat. Rate is 3300 euro + 1650 Euro for 2nd diver, rates before my agent discount. The Euphoria is a traditional Indonesian ship that carries 14 divers. Deal has to be booked by 28 Feb. Not sure if this works with your travel dates.

Are they still spearfishing in the marine sanctuary or has that stopped now?

Feedback appreciated on this boat? this time of year? this area to dive? I have @200 dives
Travel to Sorong

I'm going back on the Indo Siren in RA on 31st Mar-10th Apr. The boat is very good and the crew are lovely - I dived with them last year in Komodo. I've been to RA before but not with this boat and not down to Misool, so a new experience awaits but the north of RA is stunning - loads of beautiful corals and huge fish schools. I'm hoping for some more macro than i found last time in 2011 - the guides are great spotters so I'm sure it will be a success.

I'm going to use NusaTrip.com to book my domestic flights, but the Siren office are normally pretty helpful when it comes to organising the domestic connection - they have a ground handler so there is a slight mark up but they handle all the booking and any issues for you- so might be worth asking.

hope you have a great time - I'll try to post my trip report promptly upon my return!
