Hey guys,
OK i have a question. I searched the board but could not quite find what I was looking for.

If this is the wrong area please move this

I am currently going though my DM for PADI - however.. my instructor is a bit more DIR orientated (which is awesome) so he would like us of course to do everything 'horizontal' which I firmly believe in.

Now heres the thing. I have been looking for a write up or a video or something showing R&R critical attributes and steps in sequence. I watched my instructor do it, but when I go to do it at a later date, i mess up the steps. so what I need is either a link to a decent video of the steps or if someone has a link or write up on the steps in the correct order that would be awesome.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Aqua,

R&R?

Remove & Replace (mask)?
(Doff & Don gear)?
Recapture & Recovery?
Reverse & Retrograde?
Rest & Relaxation?

If its the first, you're going to have to arch like hell to get your face reasonably quasi-vertical, regardless of where the rest of you is located. :D Otherwise, define R&R...

What skills/tasks, precisely, are you trying to accomplish?

(A phonecall to your instructor might get you much more detail regarding specifically what he is looking for, together with a hint or two...and waste less of your time.)

[BTW, been gone, check yr TDS PMs]

Regards,

Doc

Ok let me break down EXACTLY what im doing.

The Replace and removal as im doing it now goes like this:
become neutral
signal students to 'watch me'
remove primary reg
clip primary
secure secondary reg
remove necklace over head of secondary
unclip replace primary
show left hand
undo waist strap
show left hand
chicken wing left hand through harness
show right hand
use right hand to grab tank valve and swing off tank
show tank/rig to students while maintaing boyance
show right hand
place right hand through harness and swing over back
chicken wing left arm in
locate secondary reg
remove and replace primary for secondary
clip off primary
replace necklace strap
remove replace secondary for primary
secury primary hose
tighten and secure crotch/waist strap
final OK

my question on sequesncing have to do with the reg swap out:06:

So are your students wearing bp/w or regular bc's? It might be best for them to see a method that exactly resembles what they are expected to do after.

You read my mind there...

Whilst performing skills at neutral buoyancy in perfect horizontal trim is great - it is not what is expected at the IE.

No matter how DIR your instructor is (don't get me wrong, there is a lot of good there) it is PADI you have to please.

In order to pass the IE I'd recommend that you wear similar gear to everybody else and conduct the skills vertically like everybody else. Unless you know that everybody else on the IE will be doing things the same way as you. Don't get me wrong, I hover horizontally, I dive for fun with a twin-set on etc. However, the examiner would have a field day assigning problems for you to solve if you start switching regs during a skill like this, especially if you try to get "students" to do the same hovering horizontally. If you are supremely confident, you may pull it off but try to make it as simple as possible.
