Just found this in case anyone fancies trying there luck ;)

http://www.bsac.org/learn/quiz/cdquiz3.htm

There is no final score which is annoying - but each section tots up your score at the top of the page as you go along.

Beware - if you enter a wrong answer you lose points until you enter the correct one...

Yea, great test. I love how one of the primary purposes of the BC is a life-jacket at the surface. If I remember correctly my bc and my wing both say this is not a safety floatation device.

Yes, ditto, didn't appreciate missing that one (lBC is flotation device). Makes you wonder about the accuracy of the rest of the answers.

To be fair though i think that quiz is set by a diving club and not an official bodies question/answer set. And is not used for any sort of exam.

I managed 78% by the way, maybe that will improve when I start to learn about diving and do a course !

Regards the BC not being a safety flotation device, I dont know - but I would have thought that although not primarily a safety flotation device, being a bouyancy compensator and having it inflated on the surface to increase your bouyancy while waiting to board a boat for example would effectively make it a saftey device even though that is not is primary design function?
After all - it is then compensating for the bouyancy required for you to remain positively on the surface...............

One of the qualifications to be a PFD is keeping your face out of the water without fail on the surface. A BC doesn't do this, so it doesn't count.

Anybody pick up on # 23
I will ask for my tanks to be Hydraulically tested as soon as they are finished with the Hydrostatic test....lol

Well, that's kind of right as they are tested by fluid (water) under pressure. Remember this is a british perspective test.

I thought it was a pretty fair test. I missed one due to unfamiliar terms. I'd never heard of an MP direct feed.

That answer is accurate.

Which of the following are NOT provided by the BC ?

Ability to maintain neutral buoyancy throughout the dive
Buoyancy at the surface
Escape from depth in an emergency
Lifejacket on the surface
Thermal protection during the dive

You thought a BC provided thermal protection? A BC does provide buoyancy at the surface, specifically, it provides positive buoyancy at the surface. At no point does the question indicate a BC is a substitute for a PFD.
