Is it okay to leave a plug off my first stage if I'm not diving during that time? I'm selling my octo and taking the first and primary 2nd stage in for yearly service when they will also attach my new octo. I want to unscrew my old octo and then just take the first stage to the shop with an open port.

Is there anything unsafe about leaving a port open for some time? Maybe as long as 2 weeks? I guess I'm thinking dust could get in and I'm not sure if that would be a problem?

Thanks!

There shouldn't be any problems, especially since you are taking the reg in for service. If you were letting it sit for a while, I would suggest putting it in a ziplock bag to keep dirt and dust out of the first stage. The shop will be cleaning all the parts, so a little dust won't matter.

should be OK, they will do service on it anyway. Your shop may just throw in a port plug when they are done with service.

Since it's going for service, don't worry about it...if you were not having it serviced, then you should plug it somehow or put the entire thing in a large baggie. While you are at the shop, ask for a couple of port plugs. Usually a shop will have hand fulls of them laying around.

Thanks everyone! This forum is awesome :)
