Hi all, I recently had my dive light swiped from a dive boat. So I’m in the market. One of the things I didn’t love about it was that it had to be mounted to its native handle with screws and hex key. I’m looking for something similar to the Dive Rite quick mount system. I’m sure their lights are good but just wanted some additional options. Thx

The new Dive Rite light is a pretty good light and they have a soft Goodman handle that will get you through any diving up to and including your tec training. If you’re really looking for a can light, orca torch have good ones in the 500-600 range

What kind of light are you talking about? Big, small, recreational, technical primary, etc….

There is a razor hand mount system that I use, it’s not bad at all. I use zip ties to attach the flange to my light, then there’s a matching piece on the hand mount that you twist the light onto. There’s also a helmet flange, so you can move the light from hand to helmet, which I find very useful in cave diving.

To the questions, this is a primary dive light but I’m not diving DIR so not a canister light. Use as recreational/light wreck diving. No cave or extended range.

I’d honestly recommend the CX3 for what you’re describing - variable light modes, long battery, magnetic charging and the ability to use the Goodman that you’ve shown a liking to. It’s my go-to for everything OW to chill tec dives. Obviously you can upgrade if you get into more advanced diving, but from where it sounds like you’re at in your diving journey, that light will last you a long time.

If that’s a bit out of the budget, dive gear expresses has the DGX600 for like $70 which is pretty good value for the light you’re getting. They also have a tool-less Goodman although I don’t think it’s as secure as the DiveRite

I was rocking a DR CX2 for recreational and working dives at night or in low vis, (Lakes/Ponds full of muck). It recently came unhooked from my gear when handing it up on a working dive. The vis was 0 feet and we didn’t have time to even attempt to look. My loss, but it gave me a chance to upgrade to the CX3, like it just as much so far and it’s a bit more compact. I also love the Oxygcheq light socks, I think the one I had and have now is the Raider 1, it is phenomenal and works perfectly, can be taken off and on underwater too if you needed to. Got it setup properly this time with a double end bolt snap in a more standard technical config like with Goodman handles and can lights would do.
