Back from spending a week at Laguan Beach and had a blast! It was our second time there and just as good as the first! We flew Delta in to Roatan and hopped over to Utila on Roatan Air- a little six seater- which was much better than cramming on the Sosa flight! The diving was fantastic- got it started off on Saturday with a quick shore dive while waiting for most others to make it over to the resort. Conditions were really good this time around- not as windy as last year and we got in around 21 dives for the week.

John our captain, and Jodi and Annette the DMs on the boat did a terrific job and were top-notch all around. (And no Jodi, we won't forget you didn't have a light on the night dive:D ) We had a fairly full boat but never felt crowded during the week and our boatmates were great!

Saw lots of good stuff this week- frogfish, reef squid, a trumpetfish striking at a damselfish, a barracuda who didn't like me taking his picture and let me know, seahorse, huuuge midnight parrotfish and a few electric rays among others. Oh and snorkeling with the pod of dolphins on Friday was fantastic, they stuck around for a while and it was great to get in and snag some video with them.

Kudos to the resort staff for making sure everything was running smooth during our stay- especially the kitchen staff for the tres leche cake!

This being our second time to Utila (and LBR) we got to see some friends we met a year ago and also had time to run six suitcase loads of school supplies to the kids on Pigeon and Jewel Caye. That may have been the highlight of the trip! Our boat captain John's wife is the only teacher for the 70 kids and they really appreciated the supplies we brought down. The kids new we were coming and greated us at the dock when we arrived for lunch. We also managed to bring down a laptop which will be the schools only computer (until we can find another ;) ) and it was great to be able to help out.

If anyone is interested in helping out- we're planing another trip hopefully by the end of the year and plan to gather more items for the kids on the cayes, as well as a school in East Harbor and can always use any extra help! We're thinking school supplies again, as well as some recreation items for the kids. When we arrived, the kids on the cayes had a jump rope as their only recess item and we were thinking about bringing some baseballs/gloves, and other gym type equipment for them.

Thanks again to LBR, Troy and Edith run a great place and we can't wait to get back! Hopefully the pool will be done by the next time we're there- it looks amazing- I'll eventually post some photos when I get a chance.

Any questions/comments feel free to ask/PM me!
