I'm looking for an inexpensive over the Christmas/New Year holidays dive trip. I'm thinking Caribbean or Mexico?? I know Cozumel used to be affordable, is that still true??
Any help would be great.

#1. from around mid-Dec to mid-Jan is the most expensive time of year to go anywhere... airfare, hotels, everything is more expensive. Many places are booked for that time months ahead.
#2. yes, Cozumel is still probably the least expensive place to go depending on where you are flying out from and what you want to do while there.
#3. do you have a budget in mind? how many people? divers or non-divers? how many dives per day do you want to do? topside activities? fancy accomodations or just a bed and bathroom? all-inclusive or not?

when you answer all the questions in #3 you should be able to start making phone calls/e-mails. Many places will already be booked up so you need to make some decisions now. You might can get a good package deal thru Caradonna or BayAdventures.

if you are looking for cheap accomodations and diving packages to Cozumel, check out Cozumel or some of the actual dive shops have little hotel packages, like PapaHogs and AquaSafari. You would have to book airfare yourself but there are many small hotels in Cozumel.

I agree that is the most expensive time of the year for that area.

Not so much for dry suit diving in Maine

I might be able to get you a good off season rate on a just opened bed and beakfast on San Andres Island. They havent filled up there rooms yet for the season, being just opened, so i am sure I could get you in at a discounted rate, around $350 per person for a week stay.
Depending on where you are comming from, and if you can get a desent price on a flight, it may be worth looking into.
