I bought a used Oceanic Omega II 2d stage and it came with an Oceanic Sub-Zero first stage, an octo and a console.

I have read a brief description of the Sub-Zero as being a cold water 1st stage IF the environmental kit is installed.

How can I tell from the outside if this kit has been installed?

Would I want to use this 1st stage?

My primary interest in the reg set was the Omega II 2d stage. I know, they're terribly old. But the fact is, I like them.

Is the Sub-Zero comparable to or an improvement over the standard Omega II first stage?

I'm at a point where I need to consider sending some of these regulators in for service. If the Sub-Zero is worth the effort, I will send it along as well.

Thanks for any info you can provide on this 1st stage.

Richard

Can you post a picture of the first stage? The only Oceanic "Sub Zero" first stage I recall was on the Delta II, and I THINK (big think there) that it was a DX4 first stage. Either way, if it's an enviro sealed Diapragm first stage, I'd get it serviced. Oceanic regs last a long time and work great.

Pictures are always good...in the meantime you might want to contact Phil Ellis (philellis on SB) or ask DougKrause the guru in Oceanic's forum http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/oceanic/

Phil is the owner/manager/janitor at www.divesports.com he is an Oceanic Dealer and can service your regulator.

Good point on the Oceanic forum. I should have thought of that.

Actually, I am planning to send my regs to divesports.com. But first I'll wander over to the Oceanic forum.

A bunch of people like them. I wish they were current.
