I am going on a trip to San Diego's Wreck Alley in March to Dive the Yukon and Ruby E. The only other wreck I have dove is the Valiant in Catalina which was about 110 ft. What could I expect on diving these wrecks for a non-penetration dive? I was thinking of Diving with a LP95 and a pony bottle for back up. I wanted to know what the average depths are for the Superstructures?? I am planning on staying within the no deco limits.

Thanks.

The Lois Ann's web site (loisann.com) has descriptions of the wreck sites, as does San Diego Oceans Foundation (sdoceans.org), IIRC.

Yukon lies on sand at about 100', but the superstructure goes up much shallower--I forget what, maybe 70'.

There's lots to see on the outside of the Yukon. Gun turrets, boat davits, rails, the bridge structures, all stand out vividly in my memory. Don't bother going on the hull (starboard) side--there's a surge there that's not much fun. It's strong enough to propel you into one of the penetration openings.

Hope you get good viz!

The Yukon lies on its side with the mooring lines attatched near the the gun turrets fore and aft. you will reach the wreck in about 65 feet and the sand is at about 110. There is a lot to see including some areas that are cool swim throughs more than penetrations a 95 should suffice depending on your consumption of course. THe Ruby E has been down a little longer, so there is a lot more marine life on the superstructure. lots of strawberry aneomes and white plumes. this dive starts at about 55 feet and goes to about 85 if my memory serves me. The current can be quite a concern on all wreck alley dives so plan accordingly. Good diving...
