Hi All,
I have a question regarding oyster farming in Prince William Sound, AK. I have read that recently there have been instances of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in oysters because the surface temperature of the water increases to about 59 F in summer months. This makes the oysters unedible. (Diarrhea, vomitting, etc. - YECH!) Would it be viable to lower the oyster platforms a few feet to get below the first thermocline to avoid this problem? Would the oysters still get enough to eat at a slightly lower level? Does anybody have personal experience working on oyster farms? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you for your time and efforts.
