Hello,

I have a PowerShot S1 IS which is a 3.2 mega pixel camera. For the most part this is ok as I am not as serious a photographer as most of the denizens here, but I would like to know if it is possible to have a camera upgraded. i.e. to have the ability to change out a component for better resolution say to 5 or 6 mega pixels or more?

If not, then are there other camera that would fit into the same case (WP-DC20)

Thank you,

couv

Hey couv, no i'm afraid that's not possible.

I've never heard of anyone much less an end-user, removing components of cameras (image sensor) to a newer higher resolution version.

As for the housing (WP-DC20) I'm pretty sure that no other camera model would fit in it as housings are designed for a specific camera model.

Cheers.

i would go to canon.com and look to see if they might have a trade in program (they have before) and to make sure that housing will not fit another camera. they are all listed on there. good luck. tom

Hey Couv.
You could try video with that instead? It takes darn good UW video - and that'll give you something different to try with it.

Or just sell the setup - you can still get $200 for the camera used, that's what I paid recently.

There was somebody on here looking to buy a decent UW rig for under $500 total - I bet they'd like that camera for a good intro setup.

Thanks to all for the good info, especially Tax Geeks idea of using it for video...makes it worth keeping.
