Help,
I am wanting to return to scuba diving - My age (66) and fitness is a concern for me. I hold an Open Water Padi and a refresher certification 4 years ago and have 200 + logged dives over the years. I've gained few lbs but, my dry suit still fits, but I am out of shape. I need to find away to get back to diving shape. any suggestions? I just hate give it up. My health is still good and my gear is still up to date.

Why don't you call and find a pool that let you use fins and snorkel. Doing 1/2 to 1 mile a mile a day should keep you in shape without being an olympic swimmer at your own pace. As any good trainer will say, have your doctor check you out first... We don't want you to exercise if your blood pressure is 220/130, and your cholesterol is through the roof. If you haven't seen a doctor in a few years, it is time to see one. Standard of care say you should have a complete physical every year.

Thanks for the ideas, I like the pool idea, we have one.
as for my blood pressure it's normal, my cholesterol is 170 and have a physical every year. The last one told me I was 20 lbs over. So, I guess I better get to it. I guess I could always go to La Jolla cove and swim there. I guess I'd look a sight putting on my dry suit jsut for a swim. ha! My stand by wet suit would do the trick.

Thank you for the help.

I wear a sleeveless wetsuit for swimming in cold water. You don't get as much friction rub on the armpits. But I never swam in the Pacific before. Is it cold?

Then there the lifestyle type changes, like:
stairs, not elevators
parking at the far end of the parking lot
walking or bicycling instead of driving
doing more housework / yardwork
etc.

Parking at the far end of the parking lot?? Heck no, I used my wife's handicap parking permit every time I go to the gym to work out..;)

Housework?? What's that??
