Hi All,
Here is my question. Why do we open our tank vale to its stop and then close the valve 1/2 turn when attaching stage one of regulator?
I've been doing this for years because I was told to do it this way, but I really do not know why.

Who's we? I dive with it all the way open.

The dive industry as far as Dive Masters go think this is easier. They check everyones air before the jump in, or are supposed to, and since a lot of older or beat up valves will stick all the way open or closed it prevents damage to the valve. As soon as I get in the water I reach back and open it back all the way

Thanks, that helps.
