For those who use a yoke version, how do you orient the first stage? Do you have the LP ports on top or facing downward? I know it works both ways but what is ideal? Pics will be nice too. Thank you.

This is a question, asked more than once.
And you can actualy mount them 3 way's.You have a top/bottom port aswell,on the top of the turred,so you can mount it sideway's.
Mine is, turret up and most will say that's just stupid, but that's the way I like it.
BTW nothing to do with Din or Yoke

Thanks 300bar, it was originally configured as shown below by the LDS. During my OW class, one of the instructors had it changed the other way around. But for some reason I like it the way it was originally so I switched it back. Somehow it looks like it's sticking too high.

Just read it...makes sense. I'll call Atomic and found out how they designed it. Thanks.

Actually Atomic did not design that geometry. That regulator geometry started with the Scubapro Mk-5 in the late 60’s. That is almost 30 years before Atomic was founded.

The two fellows that started Atomic (Dean Garraffa and Doug Toth) did work for Scubapro, but that was at least 10 years after the introduction of the Mk-5.

...how Atomic designed it ??? You can orient it any way you want...but the 'elegant' way is to orient it turret 'downwards' (opposite the way you've done it in your photo). For what it's worth.....mounting it turret up is a great way to hit your head on the 1st-stage, and to bang the 1st-stage up going through a tight swim through as it's a great way to snag the 1st-stage on things......also, turret up is the mark of a 'newbie' in most cases.

Thanks guys...great info! I just reconfigured it to turret downwards and mounted on the tank and BCD. It does look a lot more streamlined that way. I just need to make sure the hose clears the bladder when fully inflated.

That makes us both stupid... but that's the way *I* like it, too...
