I am looking to purchase a quality 3 gas wrist computer for an upcoming trimix course. Can anyone recommend a computer that they have had experience with? On line I am looking at the NiTek X, VRx by VR Technology, NiTek trio and others shown on the dive gear express website. Any input would be appreciated.

The Dive Rite Trio is a nitrox only computer, not trimix. Another trimix computer on the market, at a reasonable price, is the Suunto Helo2. I have a Helo2 & it seems like a good computer with up to 8 mixes that can be programed in & adjustable decompression algorithms (from very conservative to pretty aggressive). I will be honest & say I am not yet trimix certified (hope to be within a couple years), so I haven't yet tried that feature yet, but have done some gas switching decompression.

look at the cochran or the luna by scubapro. LOL

Thanks for your response tstorm. I checked it online, and it looks promising. Where did you purchase yours?

I purchased mine through my LDS in Evansville, IN. You can probably go onto Suunto's web site & find a dealer close to you. Suunto is a subsidiary of Aqualung.

Why not choose(with your instructor's input) the deco model you want to use, and then buy a computer that implements that model? I love my Liquivision because the display is easy on my old eyes, but it also provides a choice of running several software packages/deco algorithms.

3 gases for small money? Suunto Vytec or Suunto Helo2 or Liquivision X1 or div. from Hammerhead, there are so many

Vytec switches between three gasses, but doesn't handle mix specifically.

I've had a Vytec DS for three years and like it, but I'd go for Liquivision if I had to do it again. (Didn't do the type of diving THEN that I do NOW.)
