Go to any hardware store. You can get the grommet tool kit. You might be better to get the SS grommet.

whats common size hole for grommets and attaching knives, and retractors?

I've yet to find SS grommets at any hardware store, or sewing goods shop. Only found them online.

And it's worth the extra $15 bucks to buy the tool...lol hammers and punchs don't work so well... :D

Most major cities have an industrial fabrics outlet store. SS grommets (316)are found there, as well as a variety of other great goodies found on all the top end outdoor sporting goods.

Seattle has 2 such stores, and sail lofts have titanium and stainless grommets they use on the sails and awnings. Yes, titanium grommets, they are for the carbon fiber sails, which have major problems when stainless grommets come in contact with the carbon threads... trust me on this one. :)

While you're at the sail loft buying the grommets, have them install them. I've set grommets before, but a commercial sailmaker or a canvas place have setters that do a more consistent job than you might be able to do.
Titanium grommets sound pretty cool.

Which shops in Seattle, it so happens I'll be there next week.
