Welcome to ScubaBoard. I haven't been to the east side the the Thai mainland yet. But it is on my list of places to go in the next few years.

It is a beautiful crafted pier...where is it?

Not Sairee Beach in Koh Tao.

Koh Tao isn't an atoll and doesn't have a lagoon, fringing or barrier coral reef, as depicted. It does have 'microscale' reef patches - but not like what is pictured and certainly not off Sairee.

Looking at the boats in that picture, I'd say they look most like small Dhonies.... so I'd assume the picture was from the Maldives. The lagoon/fringing reef fits that ecosystem also. In Thailand, there's a few speedboats, but all the other small boats are Thai-style 'long-tails'.

I guess the website was done in a hurry?!?

Hmmm....In my opinion, this is not a very good way to launch a business...kind of an integrity issue.

All that I know is now I want to go to the Maldives to see this pier.

My sneaky suspension is that the web designer went to the internet and found a beautiful ocean picture to use; not evening thinking about the "presumed" false representation that this business might represent...different cultures...different set of values.

Helllo guys !! from Koh Tao !! Well ... thanks for the messages ....
The PURA VIDA Koh Tao Dive shop its a real Dive Shop , hopefully well get some support from the people and start with our adventure , the pier its not in Koh Tao , that wasnt the idea anyway... just represents what we think of the idea of the company , the spirit .... its like our logo , we didnt want to confuse anyone , but seeing your coments ...well change it if thats so bad ...sorry if we create any confusion .
