Researching a dive trip to Malaysia from Singapore I came across a weekend trip to Tioman staying at Berjaya resort which sounded good, It wasn't good it was great! I was lucky enough, along with three other divers to have Dennis Monreal Reyes as the (overqualified) dive master. Wow this guy knows his stuff, his experience of Tioman made even the "settling in" (assessment of our skills) dive at Rengis Island fun & the assortment of fish life including a black tip reef shark meant there was much to see. The second dive was a more challenging dive in current, on a site well worth seeing called Tiger Reef, some of us even spotted a nudibranch despite the current. Chebeh was the 3rd dive for the day & Dennis' knowledge of the area meant that we were able to check out the coral gardens & explore some of the many swimthru's in this area, once the trigger fish that fancied my blue fins had been chased away.
Day 2 & the first dive was a picture perfect dive on a site called Soyak, a wreck which is now in 2 parts & home to many fish, followed by a swim over boulders covered in coral giving the diver much to see while slowly ascending. The final dive for the weekend was back at Rengis Island, the variety of fish life & corals here make for a speccy dive.
The air con bus was clean & realitively comfy, the chalet style accomodation four star, with a wide variety of nice food available to suit all tastes, however the company of the other divers in the group & the knowledge & expertise of our dive master Dennis (ediveproject.asia) made this the best dive trip I have experienced.
