Does anyone know which operator Carnival uses in Puerto Vallarta? Because of the schedule, we can't use a private operator because they get back too late. I hate ship's excursions, but we want to dive!

Laurie:

Last fall we did PV from a cruise ship (not Carnival). We had a similar problem with schedules and the local operators but like you, we are not usually big on ship's excursions. We used Leslie (vallartadivers@yahoo.com) who was very accommodating and set us up with a two tank dive (2 divers) at a very reasonable rate and who made sure that we were back in time for the boat. She may be on this board as LeslieinPV.

Leslie is a member here on this forum. I was in PV 2 weeks ago and booked a 2 tank dive with her. She was great and i had a really good dive with her. She is professional and does a good job and informing you about the dive site, dive plan, and all safety. She was very good at pointing out the marine life and a great person to talk to. When I go back to PV I will definitly be booking my dives with her. She is very personable and fun to tlak too. She gave me a great history about mexico and i very much enjoyed her company.

Unfortunately, I went to her site and the timing doesn't work out. We have to be back on board at 2:30 pm and it cuts it too late, even just going to Los Arcos. The only safe way to avoid us missing the boat is to go on the ship's excursion. Oh well, at least they have beer on board for after the second dive.
