Just to clarify, as this appears to have gotten off track, this is an opening for a part- time entry level biologist. Having worked in the aquarium field for several years, this is an opportunity on par with any other facility; in fact many aquaria take divers as volunteers without any compensation unless they are members of the biology staff. This is not a commercial diving assignment. If anyone is interested in our safety standards, please feel free to contact me for the name and number of our dive safety officer. Should you have any more questions, I would be happy to answer those as well. Thank you all for your interest.

1. Are you an organizational member of the AAUS?
2. Do you subscribe to the Scripps Model for Research Diving Safety Administration?
3. Do you have a Diving Control Board with a majority representation of research divers on the board?
4. Does a research diver have to right to refuse to dive without fear of loss of pay or status?

If you can, in good faith, answer yes to all four of those questions there's a pretty good chance (still that little question of what kind of reseach is being done) that you are entitled to operate under the Research Diving exemption, otherwise it is commercial diving, as defined by OSHA.
