I bought a pt-015 off ebay recently only to find the red lens ring is slightly bent, not much but just enough to stop me adding any wet lens i imagine. My friend has a pt-020 and probably isnt going to add any lens to his rig, I found out the lens ring unscrews off on my camera and tried to do the same on his to see if they were a match. I couldnt get it off though and now im not convinced the lens ring even comes off on the pt-020. If anyone could shine some light on the matter it would help

Also I wondered what peoples opinions were on the likelihood of fixing my lens ring by bending it back somehow or regrooving the thread (I have access to a metal workshop and technicians if needed), heres some pics of it:

Hi Iain,

I did this to my pt-015 ages ago ( I think I dropped it!). My dad is a fitter and turner and he was able to fix it enough for me to be able to screw on the inon wetmate lenses, so I don't think you will have too much trouble.

Good luck,
Mel.b

Well that sounds promising, thanks! Hopefully one of the technicians at my uni workshop is as skilled as your dad. Do you know what tools he used?

I'm sure I made a post about it when it happened...I was trying to find it but no luck so far. I'm sure what tools he used but I'll ask and find out.

Edit...ok, I found the thread. It wasn't what I was thinking, but reminded me of something else anyway! You will need to take off the red ring to fix the dent. That's fine, but don't do what did, which was also decide to take out the o-ring and lens to give it a clean:no . It was impossible to put back in and I then had to get dad to make a device to push it back it (he was really loving me by this time :rofl3: )

bang it back out, run something hard with that thread into it... might have to have the shop turn a plug with that thread out of some carbon steel..
if you want to try to protect the threads a little, have them make a plug.. and another section of threat.. cut that section of thread into a section and use it as a form to hold the threads as you bang it back out =)

Should be fairly soft. You might try using a thread file to lever it back out without flattening the threads, and then the same one to chase them.
