was demothballing my dive light today and noticed the LiPo battery had a rip in it

I suspect from the movement within the compartment. The battery unit can move laterally and appears to have scraped against the edge

nothing a little electrical tape cannot fix

check yours fellow divers

a short circuited LiPo could be a hefty incident

Is that a lipo pack in your dive light? Usually they are li-ion.

Unless the photo is a bit misleading, that is only the poly sheath holding the cells together. Has nothing to do with the battery or its viability.
