I am a relatively new diver. What do people use to project the back of their SUVs from the salt water from your wetsuit BC after a dive. Is there some special cover or basin to use? Thanks

Plastic storage boxes.. the big ones.

Yes, I've used a big plastic box to put the wet stuff in. I'm sure you've seen them at Wal-Mart or other stores. We have a store called Andersons around here with a huge selection of plastic tubs/totes.

almsot forgot...

WELCOME TO SCUBABOARD.......... and to diving. :)

ANother thing to consider is finding a restaurant supply place and getting one of the Rubbermaid pro line trashcans. Like the above mentioned plastic storage boxes, it will keep your car dry. The advantage of the trash can approach is that when you get home you can fill it with water to give your gear a good soaking.

Make sure and get the pro line rubbermaid though (they all have a place to lock a wheel set in them on the bottom) or it would not be able to hold the water.

Clarification: The usual Rubbermaid totes are great but you cannot fill them with water because water is just too heavy.

Rubbermaid bins, and check with a carparts/dealership for a bedliner, I have a black rubber bed liner from my dealership, it has a good 3" edge to keep the water somewhat contained. If your hatch catch is some kind of metal part on the bottom you'll want to keep it cleaned and protected with whatever you are supposed to use.

I ordered an industrial strength plastic floor mat from Auto Anything dot com. I pull it out hose it off, spray it with a little microbial shwag and a little smell good ... happy SUV.

I have a Ford Taurus and bought a storage bin for $19 from Home Depot that I keep in the trunk. Everything goes in there after a dive except tanks. It keeps my stuff in one place and keeps the trunk dry.

Also bought some of those adhesive hooks and stuck them on the side of the bin. I hang my tank banger, buddy line, little goo gaws that I want to keep handy.
