After reading some of the older posts I couple of questions regarding proper ascent.

I normally dive from shore so many of my dives are less then 30' and the ascent is normally following the slope back to shore.

1. I normally only need 1 or 2 short air burst in my BC during the dive to achieve neutral bouancy. During an ascent you would normally vent out the BC as you ascend but in my case there will be very little air in the 1st place. Is this normal?

2. I know never hold your breath but what damage can be done by inhaling while acsending? Is this only a problem during a run away ascent?

Thanks

1. Yes it's normal. Sounds like you're not overweighted and doing well.

2. As long as your airway is open you will be do fine. Unless you are inhaling VERY deep and ascending quickly at the same time, it's not a big deal. Keep the airway open.
