I am trying to use the SD700 with the Canon underwater case, and an external slave flash (SeaLife SL960D). The flash fires appropriately in slave mode. However, pictures on-land come out dark with the flash on, and actually ligher and better when I turn off the external flash. It appears that there is some feedback from the flash to the camera that changes camera settings somehow even though it is a pure slave. I tried various manual/scn modes, with different ISO and different external flash strength. Most times pictures with the external flash off come out better! Note that the internal flash is blocked and only used for triggering the slave.

Any ideas?

Sorry, I misunderstood the flash AND canon manuals... after going through the various preflash combinations in the Sealife it works fine at "preflash setting 2". Sorry for the bother...

Hi Opher;

I am seriously thinking about getting a Canon SD700. Are you happy with it so far? Anything that you don't like, other than the manual (lol)?

I have an older Canon Powershot camera that I have been using for years. I have been very pleased.

I like it, but to be honest haven't used it too much. It actually belongs to my teenage son, I personally have a fairly new Rebel XT with all the lenses etc, more my cup of tea :-)

But, I bought the housing and flash for the SD700 since it is about $1800 cheaper than a housing for the rebel XT...

I played around with the SD700 quite a bit, quite nice for such a small camera.
