I recently had a computer crash & lost my dive log. Once I
reinstalled everything inc. the latest version of the Oceanlog
software, I downloaded all my dives from my vt pro. I only
have 24 dives on the vt pro and can see them all; however,
when I download ALL my dives, I can only see the most recent
10 on my PC using the Oceanlog software.

Anyone know what's going on?
Thanks,
Peter

The number of dives on the computer that you can download is often less than the number of dives in the on-board logbook.

There are 3 parts to the dive computer's memory used to store dive data. These are "ring buffers" or "circular buffers". When the end of memory is reached, it just wraps around and starts overwritting earlier data (earliest first). The first part is the on-board logbook entries and the other two are the downloadable log book and profile data. There is room for more dives in the on-board logbook (which only stores summary information of the dives) than in the profile data (depending on the sampling rate of course). Since the earlier dive data is overwritten it is not available for download so that is lost.
