I was diving Spiegel Grove a week ago and lost one of my two Ikelite Pro-V7 LED video lights.

It seems that rough surface and rough seas loosened the nut enough so when I was surface swimming from one mooring ball to another and one of the two lights sunk and now resides in about 120ft of water around Spiegel Grove :(

Just wondering a few things:

1. Is there a better way to attach the light and tighten so it will not happen with 3rd light (I guess I need to buy me 3rd light but it will be a while as they are not cheap :(

2. Any suggestion for a backup so in case nut loosens again there is a backup preventing separation?

You can use a nylon cord tied to the light and the tray. I do this with the Locline flex arms, they could pop loose. It's never needed unless the unexpected happens, then it saves the light.

The included thumbscrew is intended for easy attachment and removal of the light arm without the use of tools. If you'd like to tighten it even more tightly on the handle bolt you could use a stainless steel washer and 3/8-16 nut.

I haven't tried it myself but I would have to believe that a cord or string tied to the light head and handle/tray would be a sufficient back-up method as slowhands suggests.

Now if Ikelite would sell me the replacement at cost would really be nice ;)

Otherwise I'll have to wait a bit to replace it as $250+ is really not too cheap. :(
