I have a Pro QD and am thinking about going with a Twin Setup this coming summer. was wondering if anyone has set it up for twins. Aqualung says it can be done, but my LDS says no..

anyone?

There's lots of things that CAN be done that SHOULDN'T.

+1 for your LDS

I saw one this past weekend without any tanks attached, didn't think anything of it and only noticed because I have the same BCD. But the parts looked official, like the single tank holder can just be swapped out for the twin.

Listen to your LDS. Evidently they have some sense. THere are a number of jacket BC's that are supposed to be able to handle doubles with some "approved" modifications. I've yet to see any that would really be stable enough to do it. If you plan on going to doubles get a rig that is designed for it. A Backplate and Wing or something along the lines of a transpac. Even then a plate is called for. Use the right tool for the job. If you cannot afford or do not want to spend the money for another BC forget about doubles.

I totally agree, it isnt that I do not want to or that I cant afford to purchase a new BC for the twins, it is more of a desire NOT to blow money.. more money = more blowing of bubbles...

Also, this thread was more of a he said, she said type deal. I trust my LDS completly but sometimes you get this overwealming desire to prove the old man wrong.. unfortunaly, this was not the case, so now, i'll go back eat some crow and see what he offers in the way of Back plate and Wing BC's that can handle 2 tanks...

Cheers.

Hopefully before they show you anything they dig a bit with you to find out WHY you want to go with doubles. What's your goal? What kind of diving? Do you need more training to go along with that? What other gear do you need to go along with doubles/BP/wing, etc for that type of diving?

If you're just looking to extend gas supply-limited bottom times by a few minutes perhaps a larger HP single tank is a better approach than going to doubles. However if you want get into more technical/deeper/longer dives than doubles make sense, but the gear is a pretty small piece of that puzzle over all, and the BP/W is just a portion of that gear.

The SeaQuest Pro QD is an excellent Recreational BCD. However, I would not try to use it for Doubles configuration no matter what someone says is possible. I doubt that it can support the weight of doubles - also, there is not a secondary bladder in the event of failure within the BCD. I'd recommend that you consider investing in a Dive Rite or OMS dual bladder BCD if you are thinking of getting into a doubles configuration.

I dove an Oceanic Excursion rigged for doubles this summer by the manufacturer's adapter package. One of the most frustrating diving experiences in my life and it is a back-inflate BCD. Doing so with a ProQD would make me very uneasy.
