Hi,

Professional liability insurance is not required for instructors working in NZ because of the ACC scheme. Due to the Scheme's no-fault basis, people who have suffered personal injury do not have the right to sue an at-fault party.

However if you have worked abroad you would still need to be covered by an appropriate policy for the seven years prior to arrival in NZ. You may as well consider renewing your previous policy.
 
Totally lost now, I was last teaching in Africa where insurance wasn't necessary so I haven't had insurance for a long time, does this mean I can't teach in NZ. As far as I know I just need a HSE Medical and a COC.........
 
Your right, I crossed over to Asia Pacific with no probs but they did advise me to take out insurance with Wills Australia
