I stayed on the Pro-Dive liveaboard for the 3 day 2 night trip. I asked for peoples options of the company and thank you for your replies.
The 3 day 2 night trip was $480.00 for snorkelers and $580.00 for divers and for a $100.00 more you could do the advance course. So this was a no brainer for me. So for $680.00 and I completed the advance course and still got some fun dives on my own, well with my dive buddy.
I went by the store upon arrival in Cairns to check out the store and pick up my PADI book for the Advance Course Certification. (I had recently obtained my civilian dive certification.)
The store and the staff were very friendly and professional. My wife was only snorkeling and they even had a prescription mask for her to use.
On the day of the trip Pro-Dive picked us up at the hotel and took us to the store to get all of our equipment. Once everyone put their gear in the truck we were taken to the pier to get on the boat.
Upon arrival were meet the crew and boarded the boat and stored our gear. Once under way the crew gave us all of our briefing before we arrived at the reef. Again the crew was very professional and personal.
The first two dives were fun dives and then we started our course dives.
All the pre-dive briefs gave great detail and where we could locate various fish and corral, even Nemo.
I really enjoyed the area, I know the reefs farther north are better but for the money and price I could not beat it.
I would highly recommend this to someone whether they would like to learn to dive or get their advance certification or just dive while in Cairns. The crew bent over backwards to do everything they could for everyone on the boat. There was 33 divers/snorkelers on the boat. There was about 4 divers that did not do the course and dove own their own, 5 did the advance course and the rest did their open water cert.
I asked the crew about the commits that I had heard about how stricted they were about depth and time limits. I was told that in Queensland did not allow reverse profile diving and it even applied to the staff. They were not as strict that I had heard. They answered every question even the commits that I had heard about.
I would dive with Pro-Dive again in the future. The staff was highly qualified in diving, some of the staff were even Tri-Mix instructor certified, so you know that they not only dive while they are at work but also enjoy other aspects of diving. I would like to go back in the future and dive with the staff also in the future.
I would like to thank the staff of my boat, first the Skipper-Zack, Master Diver/Dive Master-Oscar, Master Diver Alex, Tec-Tri-Mix/Master Diver-Dave, I am sorry I forgot a name or two and the cook Sam.
If you are heading to Cairns call and ask if you can get on their boat. You will have a great time.
