Hi all! I'm down in Sydney for a couple of weeks (until May 14) and I'm looking for recent input from local divers on what's good this time of year. I'm looking for anyone that can point me to some good places to go or any good dive shops to go with (diving with Manly Scuba tomorrow). Also, if anyone's looking for a dive buddy to get wet with, give me a shout -- I'm trying to get in the water as much as I can over the next couple weekends. I'm here on work so unfortunately I didn't bring a dive buddy with me! :) Thanks in advance for any good pointers that may come my way!

What are you interested in as far as diving goes? There are a number of great dive sites in Sydney> We tend to do a lot of shore dives. Are there any creatures in particular you want to see? How are you getting around (do you have a rental vehicle)and do you have your own gear with you? Where are you staying?

What kind of conditions are you comfortable with. How are you with current? I know I am asking a lot of questions here but I think we can give you better advice as to where to go based on your answers.

I am not sure when we will be diving as I have injured my foot or I would offer to meet up with you.

abyss
plunge dive
Frogdive
prodive Manly

are some of the bigger local stores. I know Frogdive does weekly or bi-weekly shore dives, give them a call or add them to your facebook page (if you use it). the same appears on the Abyss site.

I'll be on the frogdive boat next week (30th) with my brother-in-law doing the 2 later dives.

There is also Sydney Dive Academy near LaPerouse
St George and Snorkle In but your location and the types of dives and creatures you want to see will help work out your best options... what dive ops are close to you and the sites you would most enjoy..

I went with Dive Centre Manly last year on May 1st. We had a couple of awesome dives. They do a "Shark Dive" that's pretty cool. Nice grey nurse sharks. I saw a weedy sea dragon and an Australian Giant Cuttlefish on that dive.

REd Indian fish reported at Bare Island... and Batfish at Clifton Gardens
