My reg suffered physical damage over the weekend, so it is in the shop. I'm booked on a liveaboard next Wednesday and I'm planning on diving nitrox. The shop can't guarantee that my reg will be ready to go by then. I need a secondary reg anyway, so I just bought a nitrox ready reg from Diveinn.com. It should be here in time for my trip.

I have not bought a pressure gauge for the new reg yet. I plan to do that locally. Can I hook up an ordinary gauge to my new reg and dive nitrox without any mishaps? Are there parts in a pressure gauge that must be O2 cleaned before diving with nitrox?

Most authorities agree that unless you are using greater than 40% you do not need an "O2 cleaned" or special SPG as long as the manufacturer doesn't have any special requirements.
