Today, UTD released the online classroom materials to support the UTD Regulator Service Technician Certification Class. These are excellent support materials, consisting of 17 chapters including Power Point presentations with instructor voice overs, schematics, and closeup video presentations. The class covers breaking down diaphragm and piston first stages and balanced and reversible second stages, cleaning, servicing, and rebuilding. The class videos are an incredible resource - a step by step procedure that is an excellent reference on how to service and fix regulators.

These are only support materials for the Regulator Service Technician class. In order to receive certification the student must complete a 2 to 3 day hands-on class with a UTD Instructor.

These classroom materials are also a fantastic reference for all divers to learn and understand how their regulators function and to "Field Service" their regulators. The classroom materials will help all divers keep their regulators functioning and in tip-top shape between service periods.

The Regulator Repair and Field Maintenance materials are also included in the Professional Development Training Package, which consist of Cylinder and Valve Technician (CVT), Technical Gas Blender, Extreme Scuba Make Over (ESM) and Regulator and Field Service. This is an excellent package of training materials in preparation for anyone who is interested in classes to service equipment, blend gas and perform cylinder visual inspections.

I'm interested. Is it a certification course? Is this sanctioned by the major reg manufacturers? Will the manufacturers let you openly buy their service kits? Or is this just for HOG regs which you can buy the service kits anyway?

Thanks

Posted too soon. The video just answered my questions. I wonder if this program is accredited by HOG like the TDI class? It would be great if it was.

Guys

This program is 100% accredited and backed by HOG and once you are certified you can purchase service parts from any HOG dealer. We are currently working with other regulator manufacturer to get them aboard. Stay tuned.

Keep in mind the Online Classroom materials are an excellent resource for all divers who are interested in understanding how regulator work and how to "field service" their regulators between service periods or most importantly how to repair them if they break or get sand in them or something like that.
